Erin Jackson had a familiarity with the Comstock Fire Department through his stepfather, Dave Cook, who also serves on the department. His parents also served as EMTs, so service has been a long-running tradition!
Erin joined in 2014 after completing academy training through the Kalamazoo County Fire Chiefs’ Association program. He also completed a Medical First Responder course with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
Having had a chance to get to know many members of the department before joining was an asset, and Erin says they’re one of the best parts of his job. In addition to getting to hang out with them on and off duty, he also loves other chances to serve the community with them, including installing smoke detectors in homes, installing a playground in the Celery Street Neighborhood, and letting kids see the engines on community days.
