Matt Beauchamp
Comstock Township Officials appointed Matt Beauchamp as the new Fire Chief of Comstock Fire Department on October 2, 2017. Beauchamp, a veteran of the department serving since 1995, previously served as Acting Fire Chief after the tragic Line of Duty Death of Chief Edward Switalski on June 14, 2017.
Prior to stepping up as Acting Chief, Beauchamp served as Deputy Chief since 2013 and oversaw the Training Division, Apparatus Maintenance and Communications Equipment, along with various administrative responsibilities.
Beauchamp holds a master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in Technology Studies and Homeland Security. He also has a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science from Lake Superior State University. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s (NFA) Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) and the Eastern Michigan University Fire Staff and Command program. Beauchamp is an accredited Chief Fire Officer (CFO) through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CFSE) and an active member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE).
When not working, Matt enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and working out.
